Wei Kiat + Ee Von at Carcosa Seri Negara
It was a beautiful day for a garden wedding, and what a beautiful wedding Ee Von and Wei Kiat had! Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your most treasured day and also for sharing it with our dear fans and readers of this blog.
Photographs by MunKeat Photography.
Ee Von’s sweetly elegant bridal bouquet, and the bride’s personal touch on the wedding invitation that features her hand-painted watercolour design.
Our couple, who live in Melbourne, found us while researching wedding decorators in Kuala Lumpur and came across our website and blog. “We were impressed with the photographs of the works you have put up,” says Ee Von. “Wei Kiat and I have been together for over 12 years before our wedding, and we still agree and disagree on many things. Wishing Tree was certainly one of the few wedding vendors that we strongly agreed on after seeing your work!” Thank you for your most kind words, Ee Von.
Blush-coloured blooms in vintage vases and mason jars decorate the garden wedding, while pretty bridesmaids look lovely in their pale peach dresses.
We chose a blush palette for our couple’s big day, as they did not have a specific theme but wanted a country garden decor that would complement Carcosa’s garden as well as its interior decor. The colour palette includes a lot of white, pale peach, pale yellow, pale pink, and a touch of pale orange.
Gorgeous white matthiola and pale peach roses for the bridesmaids’ bouquets.
Ee Von’s favourite flower is the peony, but sadly we were unable to use peonies as they were not in season at the time, so she and Wei Kiat left many decisions to us with regards to flowers.
We chose luscious, white matthiola to feature in the floral arrangements, paired with pretty roses. Matthiola are absolutely beautiful on their own and one of our favourite flowers. We just love the amazing textures and their air of romanticism!
A celebratory kiss under the arch.
The arch was one of Wei Kiat and Ee Von’s favourites. “I was quite particular with the type of arch that I wanted for the outdoor ceremony. I was definitely worried about whether or not it could it be achieved as I had yet to see something like this in other weddings. But Wishing Tree assured me that it was possible,” Ee Vons explains. “I prepared myself mentally that it may not look like what I had in mind… but on that day, I was blown away – it was every bit as I imagined it to be!”
A gorgeous wedding cake by Gateauxlicious to complement the theme, and handmade wedding favours to sweeten the day.
In addition to the DIY wedding invites that our couple personally printed, which featured a watercolour print painted by the bride herself, our dear couple managed another DIY project for their wedding.
“We made, designed, and packed our own wedding favours (salted caramel popcorn with roasted almonds and macadamia) because, again, we wanted something that would give a personal touch to our wedding without breaking the budget,” says Ee Von. “I thought the idea of salted caramel was rather symbolic – a dash of salt can make something sweet so much more tasty, just like in a relationship. Popcorn because everyone loves popcorn, and, because we’re based in Australia, macadamia nuts seemed like the appropriate addition.”
Another factor that motivated their DIY projects was the size of their wedding. It was small, with no more than 60 guests, so their projects were very doable and not overly time consuming.
Wei Kiat and his beautiful bride make their way up the aisle, as man and wife.
Thank you once again, Wei Kiat and Ee Von, for sharing this important day with us and our readers. We wish you a lifetime of love and joy on your blessed new journey together!
“After the wedding, we wholeheartedly agreed that we made the best decision with Wishing Tree. Quality was never once compromised by a restricted budget, especially when our wedding day fell on Valentine’s Day. Should any bride- or groom-to-be ask for our suggestions, we would not hesitate to recommend Wishing Tree. For such a special occasion, every cent was worth it!” – Wei Kiat and Ee Von.
Kevin + Janice at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
This photograph of our couple walking into the ballroom as man and wife might be one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. Everything from the composition, the angle, the lighting, the colours, the decor, and the dress… perfection!
Many thanks to Daren Chong Photography for the beautiful photos you will see here.
Kevin and Janice look resplendent as they make their way to their dinner reception.
As one of many wedding and event decorators in Kuala Lumpur, it always special and meaningful to us when our clients choose us to decorate the most treasured day of their lives. This is especially significant to us when our clients have seen our work in past weddings and events or have come to us via word of mouth.
Our couple has friends who have worked with us, and have attended events that we decorated. This was how Kevin and Janice heard of Wishing Tree. Coincidentally, we also have a wonderful working relationship their wedding planner, Cindy from Nupts & Such. “These events helped me choose Wishing Tree as our decorator, and it has been a choice that we are very pleased with to this day!” says Janice.
Kevin and Janice’s aisle, crowned with the ballroom’s magnificent overhead crystal lighting.
The ballroom at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is an amazing venue, as you can see. Janice and Kevin wanted an elegant and romantic ambience for their dinner reception, which suits this space very well. Working with our couple’s chosen colour palette of silver, ivory and pastel pinks, we created this look for them.
The aisle leading to the bridal table is neatly lined with large-than-life floral arrangements.
Lush and simple bouquets of pink hydrangea for guest tables.
We love the versatility of hydrangea. So much texture in small bunches and they look gorgeous all on their own. The hydrangea bouquets on each guest table were provided by the hotel’s in-house florist.

Close-up of the bridal table centrepiece, using textured glass and crystal ware, adorned with a variety of pink blooms.
The bridal table decor was one of Janice’s favourite parts. “The main table was gorgeous,” says our bride, “I loved the aisle and the candlelight; they made the space look so romantic and elegant.”
Kevin is stylish in a modern suit, while his bride shines in her exquisite “kun qua”, a 2-piece traditional Chinese ceremonial wedding dress.
Thank you, Kevin and Janice, for sharing your special day with us and our readers! We wish you both the very best and a lifetime of love and happiness. Here’s a little message our couple left for us:
“Lily helped us create the magic that we were looking for on our special day. We truly appreciate her flexibility in accommodating our budget without compromising the look we intended to achieve. Having had the benefit of attending events that were decorated by Wishing Tree, we were more than comfortable to leave the planning and execution to the team while we sat back and enjoyed our special day!” Kevin & Janice
John + Tiffany at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
Congratulations to John and Tiffany on tying the knot! Our dear couple celebrated with a beautiful reception at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and we couldn’t be more honoured to have been a part of their most special day. Let’s take a look at some photos, courtesy of Louis Loo from Deviews Photography.
John and Tiffany’s bridal table at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
For their big day, our couple worked with Lane Ho from MY Wedding Planner, who introduced us. After visiting our shop and viewing our past weddings, John and Tiffany chose us as their decorator.
“Mint and pearls” was theme for this elegant wedding. “Mint is a colour we both love,” says John, “And the idea for using pearls, to express the purity and spirituality of our celebration, we thought was a great combo with the mint.” We think it’s a great combo too!
Bridesmaids’ bouquets that are full of texture, in white and mint.

Our readers who are married, or those who are soon-to-be-married, how involved in the wedding decorating process was/is your partner? From our experience, most grooms would have left a lot of details and decisions to the ladies. Sometimes this is liberating for the bride-to-be, for some, it can be exasperating. Luckily for Tiffany, her groom was one of the more involved ones as John admits, “I played a very picky role in the details of my wedding decor!”
Understated elegance for their exchange of vows.
You’re probably wondering by now, where are the pearls in any of the photos of the wedding decor? The theme is mint and pearls after all? One of the things we love about our couple’s taste in decorating their wedding is their “controlled” use of ornamental details as you will see. In this case, the pearls. Let’s take a closer look…
Lush, white orchids seemingly floating out of tall vases with submerged pearls in the base.
So elegant and classic with beautiful white roses, lilies and orchids surrounded by golden candlelight, accented with submerged pearls in crystal clear vases.
The bridal table in all its luminescent glory.
Beautiful and intricate details using flowers, ornaments and candlelight. The usage and presentation of pearls is consistent throughout the decor.
We hope you enjoyed John and Tiffany’s wedding feature, with the spotlight on their “mint and pearls” theme. Thanks for stopping by!
To our lovely couple, many thanks once again for sharing your big day with us and our readers. Your participation in our little online community is much appreciated. We’ll end with a note from John:
“I think they are professional, and if you describe what you want, they can pull it off. Overall, we were very satisfied. I believe they are one of, if not the best in the market.”
Ricky + Stephanie at Cantaloupe, Troika Sky Dining
In recent years, Kuala Lumpur’s skyline has become one of the most sought after views for some of the finest restaurants in town. With a breathtaking backdrop featuring two of the world’s tallest towers and the beautiful KLCC park, who wouldn’t want this superb view? Naturally, increasingly more private events including wedding receptions are being held at these venues, especially if the party doesn’t fill a ballroom like most Malaysian weddings.
Cantaloupe at Troika Sky Dining was the perfect venue for Ricky and Stephanie’s wedding reception. Let’s take a look at some photos of the party, through the lens of photographer Alex Tan.
Stunning view of the KL city skyline for Ricky and Stephanie’s special evening.
A typical Chinese wedding in Malaysia usually comprises hundreds of guests, a 9- or 10-course Chinese banquet, and large halls or ballrooms, which wasn’t really Ricky and Stephanie’s style. Our KL-based couple wanted a smaller and non-traditional reception that was also reflected in the venue, menu and decor, and hired wedding planner Lane Ho of MY Wedding Planner to help them with the details.
Cantaloupe is one of four fine dining establishments of Troika Sky Dining at The Troika, and was just what our couple loved for their reception. Its minimalist interior, interesting lightning and simple lines, styled in steel, glass, and concrete, provided a wonderful canvas for their wedding decor.
A contemporary setting, but perfect for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
The minimalist and mostly monochromatic interior stylings of Cantaloupe allowed us the freedom with colours and textures, using a palette of gold, white and pink, which were Ricky and Stephanie’s colours of choice. Lane was clear to ensure that all floral arrangements and installations would not restrict or obstruct the fabulous view of the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC from where guests would sit.
The skybridge walkway leading into the reception venue, Cantaloupe.
One of Lane’s favourite parts of the wedding decor was the walkway above. “It makes me excited about entering the wedding venue and I can’t wait to see what’s inside,” she says.
Left: Tall and lush centrepieces for most of the tables. Right: A signature tree created for our bride.
Tall centerpieces were created for guest tables, with accents of gold. We kept the shape of the centerpieces simple but used much texture for a luxuriant flourish to complement the plain interior of the venue. Our bride also wanted a signature item that would make the space feel really special and to provide an interesting background for photos all night — so we created a tree for the occasion.
Let’s take a look at a few more pictures from that evening.
The single, long table at the venue is decorated differently, with an eye-catching overhead arrangement.
Gold is easily added to the decor theme.
As the sun sets on the city, the amazing skyline is transformed in a different light.

Many thanks to Ricky and Stephanie for sharing your most treasured day with us and our readers. Our deep gratitude also goes to Lane of MY Wedding Planner for her insights and for taking the time and effort to contribute to this wedding feature.
Satiesh + Rennu’s Stylishly Fun Safari-Themed Wedding
Follow the sign to the party!
Are you intrigued?? We definitely were when Satiesh and Rennu shared their ideas with us! They are known among their close circles for trying out new things, so, for the grand finale of their wedding celebrations they decided to take a very different path for their dinner reception. “Something non-cliche, but creative, fun, and exciting,” says Satiesh. Their Safari-themed wedding was surely a first for us so we were happy to get on board and see what we could create together.
Many thanks for the amazing photos, MeaHow of Mphotoo!
Entrance to the Safari Wedding
We were introduced to Satiesh and Rennu by their wedding planner, Patricia of MY Wedding Planner, whom we have known since she started her Kuala Lumpur-based business almost 10 years ago. Over the years, we have collaborated on countless weddings – a fact that our couple considered while shortlisting wedding decorators. “Of course the Wishing Tree Blog, website, and client reviews helped with the decision to hire Wishing Tree,” Satiesh adds.
As a professional wedding planner trained at and accredited by the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants (ACPWC) in San Jose, California, and having planned over 200 weddings, Patricia is used to the process. She meets with the soon-to-be-wed couple, is hired, and starts the wedding planning soon after, which usually initially begins with ideas for the wedding theme or decor for the big day. But not this time.
The enticing safari-themed dessert bar.
As Satiesh and Rennu were not in the country, it was her client’s father who met with her prior to the couple’s official engagement. However, she was not hired immediately. “I was given two weeks to come up with the theme design, and presented the proposal at his office, in a conference room, on a projector and screen, as did several other wedding planners.”

The impressive attention to detail extended to the lovely desserts.
So how does one put together a wedding of this size? “Communication determines the success of any event,” says Patricia. “I was blessed to have Satiesh and Rennu for a client, together with their beloved, fun-loving family who shared openly their thoughts and ideas and diligently kept up-to-date with the progress of the wedding planning. Just as your wedding planner shares his or her thoughts and ideas with you, it is also our hope that our clients feel the same and share theirs with us.”

Theme-appropriate ornaments and decor, right down to the cake topper! And a fun bunch of props for camera-happy guests.
Sharing your ideas and thoughts openly with us, Patricia explains, achieves more than just letting your wedding planner know what you want and what you like. “The more information we have on your choices, likes and dislikes, the more accurately we can identify the right decorator to achieve your wedding decoration goals.”

The atmosphere in the ballroom was amazing! From the moment guests walked into the space, they are transported into a scene from the movies.
A centerpiece fit for the safari King and Queen!
The centerpiece for the bridal table is one of our favourite parts of the wedding decor, the “cherry on top”, so to speak.
Close-up of the plethora of flora used in the majestic centerpiece.
Colours abound on the bridal table with a beautifully curated collection of blooms. We chose a palette of colours that would be vibrant and exotic, but also “restrained”. If you’re interested, the list of flowers include: red vanda, cherry pink vanda, hanging heliconia, red hippeastrum, leucadendron platyspermum, leucospermum, protea compacta, nosa brerzelia, carthamus, and solidago (commonly called “goldenrods”). The leaves are: fatsia, palm, and ivy.
Fun side fact: Hanging Heliconia is also commonly called Hanging Lobster Claw or False Bird of Paradise.
All smiles for our wonderful couple, Satiesh and Rennu,
Thank you, Satiesh and Rennu, for sharing your big day with us and our readers. Your wonderful note is much appreciated, and we wish you both a joyful lifetime of love and happiness!
“Planning your big day can be very stressful, hence finding the ideal wedding decorator with the right level of experience, professionalism, and flexibility is key for a successful event. I’m glad we chose Wishing Tree as they took the complexity out of the process and made it a fun and exciting experience for us. We were blown away with what they created and kudos to the team for making it perfect. I would highly recommend engaging Wishing Tree for your next event if you are looking for a company that will take care of your needs and deliver an unforgettable event.” – Satiesh & Rennu
Evan + Jasmine at Hilton Kuala Lumpur
When Evan and Jasmine discussed their wedding ideas with us, we were pleasantly surprised with the main colour they wanted for their decor. We’re sure you would agree that “midnight blue” is a pretty unusual colour for a Malaysian wedding, but unless they were especially dyed or coloured, midnight blue does not exist naturally in flowers. So we agreed to use the next best thing – beautiful shades of deep purples.
Many thanks to GallerieCK for the photos!
Our beautiful bride Jasmine and her dashing groom Evan.
Our couple found us online while researching wedding vendors in Kuala Lumpur. Together with their wedding planner, Lane Ho of MY Wedding Planner, we created this beautiful evening for Evan and Jasmine.
Evan and Jasmine make their entrance as man and wife.
Evan and Jasmine were very involved in the decisions surrounding their wedding reception decor. They had ideas about what they wanted and shared them with us. This was extremely helpful in designing the ambience and arrangements that our couple would love. We can’t stress enough the importance of communication in this process, especially when there is a budget to adhere to.
Flowers and ornaments arranged for a subtly whimsical ambience.
A mix of structured floral arrangements and rustic arrangements.
We love a mix of structured floral arrangements with rustic floral arrangements. They help to create a formal atmosphere for the occasion, but also adds an element of fun. We used clear glass for all vases and candle holders to keep the decor looking clean and sharp, without complicating textural landscape of the flowers.
For something a little different, we decided to go with oversized paper flowers to top off the bridal table’s centrepiece.
Thank you, dear Evan and Jasmine, for sharing your most treasured day with us and our readers! It’s always a pleasure to decorate occasions dedicated to love and then receiving a note from the couple after the celebrations. It always makes our day! Here’s one from them…
“Having Wishing Tree as our decor team was great! We got what we wanted and they made our wedding truly beautiful, creating a very romantic atmosphere for us and hopefully our guests as well. Thank you very much to Lily, Adrian, and the Wishing Tree team!”
Han + Justine Embrace A Bold Romance
The Chinese Lunar New Year is upon us! “Xin nian kwai le” and “gong xi fa cai” to all our readers who celebrate. With the colour red dominating all manner of dress and decor during this festive season, we’d say there is no better time to share Han and Justine’s wedding with you.
Their reception was held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, photographed by Alan Yong of Pages & Pixels.
Guest tables adorned with high and low centerpieces. All in red, of course.
“Dark romanticism” was the ambience our bride Justine was going for. Red was her colour of choice, with accents of black and silver, to create a space that was romantic, bold and lush.
We love a bride who knows what she wants but also knows to trust her decorators. If you have planned your own wedding, you know that trusting people you hardly know with the responsibility of putting together your most important life event is something that’s easier said than done. And if you’re a wedding planner, you’ll know to never compromise that trust. For once, Justine has the pleasure of being both!
Left: One of Justine’s favourite parts – the tea ceremony area, small but elegantly decorated with a contemporary Chinese touch. Right: Pops of bold red for the cocktail reception.
As a professional wedding and event planner at I Do, Justine had a distinct advantage over first-time brides. For one, her arsenal of experience and phone numbers of Kuala Lumpur’s best wedding vendors (thanks for calling us, Justine!). Secondly, it is considerably less stressful when you know exactly how to plan a wedding, obviously. While Justine planned the wedding with her now-husband, Han, and their family members, the coordination for the wedding day was entrusted to the lovely ladies at The Peak Xperience so that family members and friends could just sit back and enjoy the celebration.

Inside, the ballroom at Hilton Kuala Lumpur was enchantingly transformed. Deep reds and golden glows lit up the space, reflected beautifully against shiny glassware everywhere you looked.
Dramatic yet uncluttered. The bridal table features just several carefully curated silverware and glassware, ambient lighting, and small floral arrangements.
But it was the floral chandelier above the table that stole the evening! Justine’s favourite flower, the calla lily (specifically in maroon), was star of the chandelier. The sleek lines and elegant sweep of petals combine in perfect form to create a contemporary floral arrangement, and nicely complements the textures below it.
Left: The striking floral chandelier centerpiece for the bridal table. Right: A gorgeous display of light, colour, textures and reflection.
While floral chandeliers are great ideas in terms of creating something stunning or different, they can be quite an obstruction for guests at the table if not properly planned. Here we took into account the height of seated guests so that everyone can see and talk to each other. Do keep that in mind if you would like to create a floral chandelier for your next event.
Want to use glassware and silverware that don’t match? Go for it!
Create visual interest with different shapes and sizes, like with these gorgeous crystal tealight holders.
Thank you once again, dear Justine and Han, for sharing your amazing day with us and our readers. We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
“It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with the Wishing Tree team. Their ability to make your ideas a reality and exceed expectations was definitely true in my personal experience, and their enthusiasm from day one helped to keep the planning process fun and engaging. I think many people overlook how the environment you create can affect the tone and flow of an event. What the Wishing Tree team created for us really captured the feel of what we wanted and managed to embody our own personal touches to help make the whole experience really magical for everyone. Perfect!” – Justine and Han
Charles + Yi Shin Put A Modern Touch On Rustic Chic
In our last blog post, we shared some beautiful photos from Charles and Yi Shin’s wedding ceremony and reception in Janda Baik, in the midst of the lush, green, and untouched tropical rainforest that Malaysia is renowned for, and in very pleasant 20-something degree Celsius temperatures. Best of all, it is only about an hour from Kuala Lumpur.
Two days after their wedding ceremony, our couple threw another reception in the city, this time in a ballroom at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, in Bandar Sunway. Many thanks once more to the talents at Jim Liaw Photography for the photos!
Charles and Yi Shin make their grand entrance as husband and wife.
Our bride kept the blush and gold colour palette from the Janda Baik ceremony and reception, but with a decidedly different look for the elegant venue inside the ballroom.
In the reception area, the gorgeous centerpiece and table decor are reminiscent of the ambience created in Janda Baik.
While a refreshing green-and-white floral palette took centerstage in the table decorations at the Janda Baik reception, Charles and Yi Shin chose a more romantic and chic approach with the decorations in their ballroom dinner reception.
The bridal table’s eye-catching centerpiece with romantic florals and shimmering crystals.
Adding a modern twist with sweet tulips laid over a simple arrangement of hydrangea and roses.
It’s textures and more textures galore! Without a doubt, the evening’s flowers were the crowning glory of each and every table in the ballroom. But they weren’t the only ones providing pretty textures. Using glasswares and stemwares to hold flowers, candles and shiny sequins, centerpiece arrangements for the guest tables became visual focus point throughout the evening.
Guest tables also get a romantic and chic treatment, with gorgeous textures bathed in golden candlelight.
Create visually interesting centerpieces using various materials, complementing objects, and heights.
Once again, thank you Charles and Yi Shin, for allowing us to be a part of your most treasured life event over the two days of celebration, and also for sharing these beautiful pictures with our readers on this blog.
