This is the second part of Petter and Deborah’s wedding, the dinner reception at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur following their beautiful and memorable church ceremony at St. Mary’s Cathedral earlier in the day.
Thank you, Alan Yong of The Photoz for the lovely shots!
The main table for Petter and Deborah’s dinner reception, with the centerpiece bursting with gorgeous hydrangea, eustoma, peonies and phalaenopsis orchids.
Deborah initially wanted an outdoor dinner reception, but knew it was more practical to choose a hotel ballroom instead. The hot and humid weather, not to mention the sometimes unpredictable rain, is a huge factor when it comes to deciding on an indoor or outdoor venue in Malaysia. And so we went to work on her vision for the evening of her big day…
Petter and Deborah’s guests fill the foyer at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, decorated with floral arrangements that complement the theme inside the ballroom.
Using the same colour palette from her daytime church ceremony, we created an elegant evening look using Deborah’s favourite flowers of eustomas, hydrangeas and peonies, among others.

“When I first walked into the ballroom on the day of the wedding I was overwhelmed. I got a sneak preview of it before the dinner, and it was beyond my expectations. The combination of flowers we had chosen and Wishing Tree’s accents of candelabras and crystal candle holders were a midsummer night’s dream!” – Deborah
Guest tables at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur ballroom decorated with candelabras and tapered candles, ornamented with a simple posey of lush, white eustoma and crystal beads. Low arrangements of individually-vased bunches of flowers at the base provide more texture and a layered look.
Elegant and stylish, yet intimate and welcoming. The ballroom was a pleasure to use as a canvass for many ideas. As Deborah put it, “The spectacular lights on the ceiling and clean lines of the Grand Hyatt ballroom was the perfect backdrop to have fun and be creative with the decoration.” The candelabras with their skinny candles and strings of crystal beads lend a slightly vintage-inspired air to the table decor, and the bunched flowers at the base, a little country chic. Put together in a modern setting with gorgeous lighting, white linens and glass, and you’ve updated the looks.

After seeing photos of the wedding dinner, we received comments from people who were surprised with the size and height of the centerpieces. From the photos of the table arrangements above that do not feature people, we have to say the centerpieces look far from imposing… But, not until after you have seen this photo below!

Remember the giant flower pom poms from Petter and Deborah’s church event? They made a second appearance at the wedding and were used to decorate the lobby.
The floral installation using giant flower pom poms was a hit with family and friends!
Thank you so much, Petter and Deborah, for sharing your big day with us. It has been a pleasure and we hope to see you again in the future. Wishing you all the best!
